My copy of the Season 1 DVD arrived yesterday from amazon.com. I have taken a picture of the reverse for those you are still deciding whether to get a copy. However, since you are visiting this site, that is probably not likely. Universal was also nice enough to create a companion website, even if it's currently empty.

The Dallas Morning News has a review by Tom Marstaud.

There's activity at tvshowsondvd.com discussing the features of the upcoming Rockford Files DVD. They have screenshots of DVD menus and bonus features. The official release date is December 6 this year.

It's coming!

Universal Home Video has finally announced that Season 1 of the Rockford Files on DVD will be available this December for $30. They are taking pre-orders. [This is the North American NTSC version. The European PAL version has been available for the past two weeks]

I hope they keep the opening and closing credits. It would help fill in the holes in the episode guides.

The Resources/Links page has been updated and outdated links removed.

A funny Onion parody with a Rockford reference from Lane Walker.

Ed Robertson has updated his definitive Rockford Files book. Formerly titled "This is Jim Rockford...", it is now "Thirty Years of The Rockford Files" and has been updated with a lot more information; it now runs over 400 pages (versus 200 for the original 1995 edition). Every Rockford fan should have a copy.

James Garner received the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award for his work spanning over 50 years. Naturally, the song that played as he got his award was the theme from The Rockford Files. Congratulations!

Additional Paradise Cove pictures are available from the gallery. Thanks to Tim Wade for these pictures.

January 18, 2004

One of the most detaied views of Paradise Cove is available on the California Coastal Records Project. You can clearly see the wall behind Rockford's trailer, the Sandpiper restaurant, and the other homes above and around the parking lot. Time to watch the "Paradise Cove" episode.

September 10, 2003

I've started to run Google Ads on the home page. Don't worry, I'm not selling out :-)
Let's all spend a bit of time remembering what happened two years ago this week:

Happy New Year!

Starting today, TVLand cable channel will be showing The Rockford Files, after a terrible 2001 run on TNN. Too many commercials, popups, and deleted scenes on TNN prevented me from really enjoying the show, compared to the few episodes I have taped when it ran on KDOC. Hopefully, TVLand will be better for the show.

Check out a new Rockford Files fan site.

June 14, 2001

October 2, 2000

CBS will try to air Godfather Knows Best, on October 5, 9pm ET/PT. However, CBS may preempt the show on the East Coast for the exciting VP debate. [Can't at least one network cater to the majority of Americans?]

September 1, 2000

CBS is airing the following Rockford Files movies:

Friends and Foul Play, September 2nd, 9pm Eastern
Godfather Knows Best, September 9th, 9pm Eastern
[Update: CBS has canceled the showing and replaced it with "Sleepless in Seattle". There must be more fans of Meg Ryan than Jim Rockford :-)]

July 30, 2000

[Update: Rockford is temporarily back on the KDOC schedule at 12 noon]

March 30, 2000

Two new Paradise Cove pictures have been posted. One is a bird's eye view of the pier and Sandcastle. The other is a picture of the real Rockford trailer. I've also updated the list of new Rockford Files resources. Looks like the show is getting more popular with age.

James Garner's birthday is coming up on April 7th. Happy Birthday Jimbo!

Stefan Nylen has generously provided the site with the Rockford Files theme song in MP3 format (1.1 Mb). This is not the original theme but a later rendition.

August 28, 1999

I finally visited Paradise Cove and had lunch at the former Sandcastle. Walking at the edge of the parking lot, one can imagine Jim coming back from the pier and saying - Where did all these people come from?

August 14, 1999

August 1, 1999

As mentioned in alt.tv.rockford-files, CBS will air the Rockford movie If The Frame Fits on August 12 at 8pm. I have never seen this episode, and I am looking forward to it since it features Jim's guardian angel - Beth Davenport (Gretchen Corbett).

July 13, 1999

As mentioned in alt.tv.rockford-files, CBS will air the Rockford movie Punishment and Crime on July 28 at 9pm. This is one of the two Rockford movies I've already seen and features Kathryn Harrold playing the part of Megan Dougherty. CBS is even promoting the movie on their website.

RG Naylor has given permission to post his episode reviews online. I hope this will give us new perspectives and reasons to see the episodes again.

June 9, 1999

Welcome to the new home of the Rockford Files Home page! Aaron Sumner announced on alt.tv.rockford-files his college graduation from the University of Kansas. He created this site but is unable to keep it going.

I have copied his site and moved it to my modest server. I plan to update the site a bit with news I get from various sources and by watching the show.

I've updated the answering machine messages and the episode list using
information from Ed Robertson's book The Rockford Files.

Like Aaron before me, I do not have much time to devote to this site, but I would like to keep it alive for everyone to enjoy what is undoubtedly one of the best-written TV series of all time. I can be reached at
